Banana...buy a banana, squish with fork.

He can eat whatever you want to give him; just don't give him more than one thing at a time, and not more than one new thing every 2-3 days, to make sure he doesn't have any reactions!

They also sell manual and electric baby food grinders. We bought a small manual one when dd1 was ready for chicken and meat

but then it's too thick for him - would you add water?
the gerber is much thinner - the mashed banana he didn't seem to do good with.

My babies never liked soup consistency. If it was that pureed I always had to add some cereal or rice to thicken it up.

Gerber adds water to all their fruits & veggies to get it to that consistency. Read the label. I used to cook the veggies and take the immersion blender/hand blender to them. Bananas, sweet potato, cooked squash I just mashed by hand.
