My 15 month old son screams when he is happy, when he wants attention, and when he wants to feel whatever lovely sensation it gives him inside. I know this is normal, but the noise is driving me insane. I get so tense and aggravated from screaming (it is really ear piercing) and it can give me a terrible headache that lasts all day.

He doesn't talk, but he has other ways of getting my attention like patting me and I encourage this. I suppose ignoring it is a good idea, but not very possible because of how badly the noise affects my head and ears. I whisper at him which he use to mimic a bit, but now he screams back like it is a game. I leave the room sometimes and say "mommy will come back when you are quiet" in a quite voice and when he isn't screaming I come back and say "good quiet!" and make a big fuss. Still leaving the room does not stop the screaming from affecting me (Cuba is affected by these screams). We are a very quiet household. Any advice?

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice, but if we put both our kids in the same room, they'd probably be able to break glass with all the screaming/screeching.

My daughter does this sometimes too. Razz it drives me batty. Now we try to use little voices and praise her for using a small, tiny voice (still loud by normal measure, hehe). It sometimes works. B"H it has worked when DH was driving cuz you can imagine how that could affect our safety!
