Hi,
Hope this topic hasn't been posted already. Could everyone post their favorite money-saving dinner recipes?
Mine is:
On weeks that I make fresh chicken soup for Shabbos, that Sunday I'll take out the chicken from the soup, shred it and saute' it along with onions, garlic, peppers, carrots or whatever veggies I have in the house (first saute the veggies, then add the chicken), add salt, pepper, soy sauce, 2 tsp of flour and some leftover chicken soup broth.
Then I put it in the bottom of a pan and spread mashed potatoes over it and lay puff pastry on top of that. Pierce puff pastry with a fork, egg and bake til golden.
Yum! It's one of our favorite dinners and costs almost nothing.

My family loves omlettes with potatoes and veggie salami or veggie pepperoni. Sometimes we have baked beans with it, sometimes just a salad.
I also make pasta with meat sauce. Though meat is expensive, I find that it goes a long way mixed with the sauce! _________________

You can make chicken pot pie with it. Or stir fry some veges, add chicken, mix equal amounts of mustard and water, add soy sauce to taste. Serve over rice. If you're feeling different, you can also try egg foo yung...

tonight I just made turkey burgers.
ground turkey, crushed garlic, say sauce, cornstarch, eggs, pureed lima beans, parsely flakes, chopped onion and shredded carrots. then I just made patties and sauted them, they taste great but fall apart a bit. we will see how my kids like it.
the lima beans stretched the turkey. I only used 1/2 pack turkey and 1 cup of lima beans but with everything else mixed in it cam e out to like 15 burgers.
im gonna use the rest of the turkey tomorow for taco filling
