My DH and I are looking to plan a trip to Orlando for a few days. It will obviously involve a lot of expense, taking off work etc. This is like one of those once in a year things and I have this nervewracking fear of rain. What do u do if you spend 1000 on a vacation to b in a warmer weather and enjoy the outdoors/themeparks etc and then it rains. if we wanted to be indoors we wouldnt spend the money to fly down there KWIM?
Do we cancel the vacation if rain is predicted? Sorry if this sounds silly but I want to do it right.

In orlando it never really rains. It rains and then the sun comes out. There are showers but heavy rain not really. I also have this fair so dont worry I dont think its silly.

We took a trip to Orlando with our whole familyl (11 kids at the time) around 20 years ago in mid January and the weather was nasty. Cold, windy, very cold drizzling rain. It was very unpleasant and we were really not prepared for it.

I went to Orlando w/ DH last yr for few days, also the once a yr type.
Our 1st day, tired from the night drive down from Miami, we woke up late.
It didnt pay for us to go to one of the major theme parks- pay full price and spend only 1/2 day.
We picked a Disney park, a 4 story bldg w/ adventure...its indoors..
Thank god, cuz it started pouring later in the day..

it often flash rains in orlando - disney gives out (I think or maybe sells) ponchos and everyone just runs around in the ponchos for a little while-- part of the fun!-- there are sheltered parts of the theme parks - such as the exhibits in epcot and some of the shows

They sell them. We take ponchos with us when we go so we don't have to spend the money on a disney poncho.

And like OOTBubby said, Orlando CAN get chilly and ugly - especially mid-January. I am normally there the third week of January every year (missed this year) for a work-related conference. Some years it's picture-perfect gorgeous, other years, you need a heavy rain coat.

The best suggestion I could make for Orlando is if you're going in January/February, just be prepared for a range of weather. Take ponchos and jackets. And know that the ugly weather doesn't usually last for more than a day or two at a time.
