Has anyone flown Delta to Israel? What were your experiences?

My family, ten people, flew Delta to Isreal. The only complaint was that the aircraft was small. The service was very good.

I may be totally wrong, but I don't think that Delta sends their airplanes to Israel. I think they code-share with El-Al, so you actually fly an El-Al plane, but I may be totally wrong here (it happens).

Delta used to use El Al for Israel, but lately they do have their own planes to Israel.

I love Delta. The staff is the best unlike..... and they have the service station open the whole flight with fresh fruit, yogurts, drinks and stuff and they keep refilling the station. You ask for anything they try to be helpful. Plus you get a little kit with toothbrush and cream and this is in economy. I fly often enough to say they are my favorite choice for flying overseas.
I remember liking luftnsa really nice also because the aircraft and seats were really roomy

Deps where you are flying from. From Atlanta--the flight is amazing. Beautiful planes, tv on demand (the way I determine a good flight is by their entertainment) service station open the whole time (but not everything is kosher--you have to check) and amazing flight attendants. From JFK the planes are smaller, no individual tvs--just a big one in the middle, but the service is still very good.

My parents recently flew Delta to Israel (though Atlanta) and complained a lot about delays. Everything else was good on the flight.

A number of my kids flew Delta to Israel through Atlanta and loved it. They are all very experienced overseas travelers and this was by far the best experience. Some were travelling with babies and couldn't believe how helpful the staff was to them.

I flew Delta last year, & it was very good. Flight attedants tried to be helpful with my son. My only problem was TSA in Atlanta on the return flight. They were so nasty that I ended up missing my connecting flight & had to rebook.

I am flying with Continental in a few weeks, direct from Newark.
Anybody flown on those? How was it?

I flew Continental Israel-JFK and back. Leaving from JFK was a pain, I didn't like their check in. They go through your bags after you've checked in so if you have a lock on it, they break it and you're not there was they go through your things.

I've flown Continental and I've flown Delta.

Continental from Newark, Delta from Atlanta

I like Continental better than Delta, but both are ok
Two key success factors: age/size of airplane, and flight attendants

Continental flights are usually on newer planes. That means no disgusting restrooms, chairs that work, etc. My experience with Delta is that the plane from Atlanta (4 trips total) has always been older, more yucky airplane.

Continental flight attendants seem to be more diplomatic and patient. If you are traveling with kids, my pet peeve is waiting 10-15 minutes for anyone to notice the flight attendant light. Delta attendants are a bit more lazy. If they are the Israeli attendants, they only seem to take care of Sabras - you have to speak hebrew to them to get their attention. Delta has more kosher meals stocked, for last minute mistakes/changes.

Delta out of Atlanta is more low-key than from NY area - there's a lot more pushing and hustle/bustle on the NY flights.

However, price trumps all. If I can save $500 in tickets for the family, I go with Delta, but all things equal, I go with Continental.
