| |
2 questions:
1. I have two silver candlesticks. Would you call them "the leichter" or "the leichters"? DH and I disagree, so help me prove him wrong!
2. I have a bunch of little glass votive candle holders next to my silver candlesticks, for the children's candles. Would you refer to those candle holders as "leichters?" I wouldn't, since they're not tall and fancy, but I'm curious what other people think.
Thanks!

| I refer to them as leichter, but who says I'm right? Also the small ones, leichter.

I call them leichter, if I call em at all... They generally don't listen when I call anyhow, so why waste my breath!?!

lol sunshine.
leichter is the yiddish word. leichters is 'englishized' but it's saying the plural twice. sort of like my kid says "boots's" when talking about a pair (two) boots. kwim?

Oh good, I was right! Squash, is the singular "leicht?" I've never heard anyone say that, but if I were asking someone to hand me the candlesticks one at a time, should I say "Please hand me that leicht?"

One leichter, two leichter.
Like one sheep, two sheep.
Leichter means candlestick/s, it doesn't refer to the size or degree of elegance! _________________ Boy aged 8, Girl aged 6, Girl aged 4, Girl aged 2, Girl aged 4 days ka"h

| that's a different pronunciation/dialect of the yiddish, depending on which part of europe you hail from. it's still the same word, though.
