I need to install a baby gate to the bottom of a staircase it is to stop my baby from going up the stairs. The problem is the banister is wrought iron and very narrow spindles. I did some research online and I see you can get installation kits but now I'm confused its not clear if you can use all types with wrought iron and with all gates. Also I would like to pressure mount it - is that possible with the installation kit or will I have to hardware mount it?
Anyone have any experience with this? Help would be much appreciated I have to get a gate up asap!

Can you tie on a strip of wood on to the metal? We've done that.

Then the gate has what to work with - we used a type that expands, and it needs a hook attached to the wood, but pressue would work with the wood too.

Interesting. Were not that handy round here though but maybe I can get dh to try it. What you need the hook for and how would you tie the wood on?

If anyone has any experience/advice on the kits you can buy I would love to hear!
