I have had my mixer Dimension 2000 for a bit over 5 years now, I make challah about 8 times a year, and it seems to be going?

how long should a heavy duty mixer like that be expected to last?

I just did a search on this mixer and came up with this review: so I guess it's expected!

I think the general life expectancy is about 10 years ... although mine is fine after 20+ ... things are made junkier these days ... also you have to be careful not to overheat the motor with heavy batches of dough - if it sounds funny turn it off before you burn it out (this would go for any motor) ... then turn it back on in small time allotments ...

My Kitchen Aid Mixer is about 30 years old, and still going strong. I love it. I could write it poems and send it flowers.

In return, it whips up heavy cream for rich chocolate mousse. It makes delicious brownies. It creates fabulous cakes.

Oh, my mixer, I love it so

It seems that the new general of kitchen and electrical appliances and even cars last a lot less.
