| I've heard every 2 weeks but I don't do that. When they seem very smelly/gross or after I use them to scrub out the sink I throw them out.

iyo, every how often must they be changed because of hygene and grossness and other factors? |
I don't really know how often. Probably every week or 2 - I buy really cheap ones, a few pennies each, and replace them as soon as they look a bit tired. I have a dishwasher so I don't use them that often, except for cleaning counters. my brush gets used more on shabbos.

It depends which ones I'm using. I've had ones that stunk after a week. I dumped those after a week. I've also had some that could last for 2 or 3 weeks. It wasn't a sponge, but I've had one that could go in the washing machine, (or maybe it was the dishwasher, which I never had anyway) but I never put it in.
I'm supposing that you're talking about a sponge for the dishes. _________________ Don't take whatever I say too seriously, this is entertainment for me .

I don't know what the life expectancy of a sponge is, and probably it varies depending on what you use it for, how often, and even the climate where you live. I have read that you can zap them in the microwave or add them to the dishwasher when you run it and that kills the germs each time you do it. Usually, if I smell something after rinsing the sponge I chuck it. _________________ WONDERTWIN POWERS ... ACTIVATE!
