Weird/funny things your cleaning lady has done...

My sister's cleaning lady once washed the kitchen floor with toilet water.

I had a new lady put linens on the bed. She figured the quilt cover was for the matress. When she couldn't fit it on, she broke open the zipper and undid the stitching at the bottom end, so that she could pull it over the matress. Augh!!!!

We had a live in at the time oldest DD got married. She had been with us for a long time and was very involved with the family. She had a good understanding of tznius and had a friend of hers make dress for her for the chasuna with covered neck, long sleeves, long length. She was very upset to get it the day of the chasunah to find that it a huge slit in the back almost to her tuchus! She refused to dance because of it.

She also bought us a huge candy tray (with a hechsher) and a special Jewish thank you card (from the Jewish bookstore) when she left to get married.

I had 3 boxes on my dining room table after doing a major organization of clothes- 1 handmedowns to my cousin, 2- box of stuff to my friend, 3- stuff that didn't fit yet. cleaning lady decided to be 'efficient' and combined it all. my friend had made an order with her sister and I and thought some of the stuff was her sister's and my son's pants ended up in Lakewood....

another cleaning lady lines up all the shoes in the closet including the baby sized crocs and robeez. I usually keep the baby stuff in a separate drawer.

cleaning lady in camp for sure used lysol to wash the toilets, they always had the smell after she left but it didn't last long. this was in the 'olden days' before lysol made a toilet cleanser

after asking for some bread for a sandwich, I responded to her that I ran out and didnt have any and I offered her some rice cakes instead. she looks at me and says "you are a very weird lady."

she called me other names while she was over. I fired her on the spot Smile

Once I found her using Raid (the insect killer) as Windex on the bathroom windows. I stepped out of the room and started laughing hilariously. Then I came back and took the bottle and swapped it with a different one...

Well the cleaning ladies I've had have for the most part been amazing and professional. But I had one that reminded me of Amelia Bedelia...

My boys were having... um... aiming issues when it came to using the toilet and when she asked me how to get rid of the horrible smell in the bathroom I told her to try lemon and vinegar.

So she did.

She said she had never tasted such a tart lemonade but at least the bathroom didn't smell so bad to her anymore....

I had one who loved wiping everything with a wet rag.... well she almost electrocuted herself when she wiped the flat screen TV we owned at the time !! the tip of her fingers were white like a hard boiled egg Shocked

, she killed the TV (it was for kids DVDs anyway and it would have been not kosher with DS school in my new town), a few vacuums and sadly damaged a bunch of leather cover seforim (that is the hardest loss since they are expensive) , we had to bury them as they got moldy Crying or Very sad

I can't afford a CL at the moment but when I find myself complaining my lack of help I think of her Laughing

I once found all my shirts hung up in my closet with skirt hangers, so I had 2 indentations at the shoulders of each shirt.

dirty diaper in the laundry basket.

I had another cleaning lady who also worked for my mother. She told my mother I yelled at the kids, 'shut up!' when they were in bed. I am very careful with the language I use and can safely say I have never used the word shut up in my house. She would also tell my mother things that would go on in my house. Nothing embarrassing but I don't need someone publicising everything that happens here. I fired her after that.

I have a cleaning man who has been with us for more than 15 years. He is Italian American, and was trained by several very prominent frum families, so he knows how to handle things in a Jewish home better than many Jews. He really is part of our family, in fact, when he lost his apartment last year, I offered for him to live with us until he found a new place.

Every week, he makes order out of chaos, and makes our place actually look good. He is a shining example of work ethic that my kids would do well to emulate.

That Pesach, DH forgot to reset the timer on the dining room lights, and they went out at midnight. Boy, were we happy when he was able to come in, assess the situation, and turn them back on for us.

My only regret is that he is getting on in years, and periodically reminds me that someday, he will retire. He has spoiled us rotten, and I doubt anyone else would measure up.

asked cleaning lady to change linen. when I changed linen myself the time after I saw she had put clean linen ontop of the dirty!

I had a very good foot scrubber brush. It was on a shelf next to shampoo etc.. I told my cleaning lady to wash the toilet and 5 min later when I checked on her guess what I see? She's using my foot brush instead of toilet scrubber to wash toilet. I told her it's a foot brush she said what problem and washed it out in the toilet bowl and returned it to me. I through it in garbage. She saw and took it out claiming if you don't need it I take it home.

My cleaning lady broke the mop stick in half last week! I just bought a new one! it's a wood stick this time! Smile

Always very weird things happening. Sad

I'm convinced that my cleaning lady drinks Mr. Clean and eats paper towels at the rate that she uses them up.
