first of all, if anyone has attended/is attending online college, I just started and can use any and all tips.

question: when you do the readings and stuff, should I be taking notes? as if I were in a real class? or what?
also, how much time does it really take? (the instructor wrote 12-15 hrs a week for the course, I'm hoping it isn't that much).
again, any tips, esp with chagim coming, really helpful.

Well, I just started, but I'll see if I can help.

I think the 12-15 hour thing (I was told 12 per course, for a three-credit graduate course) probably varies depending on the course. If it is a subject you are familiar with or good at, it may take a lot less time then that.

I don't take notes, but that is because I personally do not learn well by taking notes. If you do learn better by taking notes, you should probably do so. It will probably easier to type notes on the computer, rather than right them on paper.

Also try asking if you can work ahead. I am working ahead so that I will not have to do as much around the chagim.

Hope that helps.

I would enlist the help of any friends, neighbors or family that can help you in writing papers. Even if they just help with giving you a rough draft for your papers, it should make things easier for you. Being a full time Mom and student is onerous and a graet challange. Maybe you can ask the administrator to start a new forum to post paper topics. It can also be used by those of us who have to help our HS & college kids with their papers.
