I have no idea where the names came from, but Bristol is a city in Maine and Chelsea, Massachusetts... (Of course, being New England, I would say the names do originate from England).

I don't know, but my sons Liverpool and Ipswich don't seem to mind.

As an English person, I guess they are in good company with my crew, Brooklyn, Scarsdale, Nantucket, and Tonawanda!

Well it is the topic of discussion among many of the Obama supporters that I know. I guess there are all sorts.

This is being waved about on all the political groups by those who are Obamaphiles.

I don't doubt there are morons waving things around. After all, look at all of the tripe about him being a Muslim. We should focus on the actual issues. I post on a 99% Democratic board and this hasn't been mentioned. They don't care about her children at all.

Well... Obama's Muslim origins actually is relevant and could be significant in ways that we cannot foresee. Just for the record.

But this baby? No relevance whatsoever to the campaign, as long as she has a good support system and reliable childcare.

Actually, I think Ms. Palins forbears lived in a place called Bristol Bay.

And a well known footballer in england has a son brooklyn. Just as well they didn't chance upon the Bronx.

Somehow, no one has ever called thier child Chipping Sodbury or Giggleswick.

I think that the left wing media and liberals have nothing bad to say about Sarah Palin so they have to make this nonsense up. I am amazed that some of you even read these poorly written and researched leftist blogs, let alone find credibility in them. I will never for the life of me understand how frum women can be liberal. To me liberal ideology is antithetical to Torah values. In addition, I would think that Sarah Palin has much more in common with frum women. She has a large family, is pro-life, is for school choice, etc.

I also find it disheartening that this type of story gets attention from some of you and that Resko, Ayers, and Wright is merely a blip. Those are REAL scandals and much more serious. B/c even if this were true (not that I think it is) she would have done an honorable thing. There was a time when people did have shame. And how about a politican who actually practices what she preaches when 90% of DS children are aborted.

Tell me Obama supporters how it is honorable to let Down Syndrome children die after a botched late-term abortion because apparently Obama sees nothing wrong with this. I find this fact much more worrisome and much more important as it relates to our country.

Actually, I think Moreton in the Marsh, Newport Pagnell, and Pratt's Bottom would also be quite good!

Wow, I had no idea. Are the Obama supporters on Imamother aware of this?? That makes me sick that someone with no compassion for these suffering babies -- someone who actually has taken part in enabling the murder of babies-- is running for President of the US and may win!

I agree, how anti-Torah these values are... not to mention inhumane in general!

I am so sad that I am done having children, with all of these great names still available out there. Oh well, there's always hope for the next generation.

I just think it's more interesting than the original conversation, which I think is personally a waste of time. Plus, being an ex-Brit living in Israel, there is nothing more fun than having a great laugh at the Americans! (Oh whoops! Is someone going to put up a thread now about horrible Brits and their dreadful sense of humour?) Wink

Nah, sense of humor would come third, after bad teeth and bad food.

Truthfully, Brits are the funniest people in the world.

We were thinking about naming dd Manchester, after my father's hometown, but we liked Esther better.

I guess so. I could have named dd Liverpool after my dad's former residence, or ds Manor Park, after my mum's former residence, or Kingston Upon Thames, after my former residence - but we also chose more boring names, such as Chani, Soreleh, Shmuel, etc.

Oh well...

And Clarissa - what's this rubbish about bad food?!!!! Coming from the inventors of hot dogs, tomato ketchup, and other such er ... delicacies, that's pretty funny!!!

No one is forcing you to stay on this board ya know...

Personally I think it's interesting that no Obama supporters are addressing the fact brought up by littles that Obama advocates letting little babies die.

Yes, Marmite is disgusting and anyone who eats it clearly has a warped sense of humor.
