I would love to start getting credits so that when I decide to go back to school for a degree -something in the medical fireld or nursing- I'll have some.

by of 18th ave (as someone posted earlier).

I don't know what number you call, though. I used to take them in bya but I don't know if they offer them there anymore.

Also, if you go to the clep website (google it) there should be a list of places that offer it in downtown bklyn or Manhattan.

That's a great idea with one possible hitch. Many colleges will no longer accept CLEPs. Before you waste your time, energy, and money on them, I would call up the colleges you plan to apply to and ask two qustions.
1) Do they accept CLEPs?
2) If yes, which ones?

Once you have your answer, you can reserve books from the library to study, rather than spending the money.

Good Luck!

Touro makes your life very difficult to get them, and even if you get some accepted it is only specific ones. Brooklyn or any other official non Jewish college often don't. Raizel Richt does and so does Sara Schneirer but only for some things.

In grad school, there were some girls who had clepped a few undergrad sciences (bio, physics) and could not get them approved to get into the program. They had to redo them at a regular undergrad college. This is a secular college though. I’m sure the frum colleges don’t mind – sara schenerier, raizel reit, etc. Many of the secular schools want you to actually attend a class and not just pass a test for credit.

Agreed.

But that’s why you should call the colleges you want to eventually apply to and ask them if they accept cleps. I’d like to also point out that although my grad school didn’t accept those science cleps, I believe they accept a very limited amount of cleps in other subjects. Their belief was that the student should do sciences at a regular college because of the labs and hands on experience and the science requirements cant be fulfilled with just taking a cleps test. So you need to ask the colleges if they accept CLEPs at all, how many, and are there any subjects restricted from cleps.

I second the recommendation to do the pre reqs at kingsboroguh. I know a few girls who did it there. Its also cheap.
