well, we just got back from a week long vacation. with two children. who are both currently under two years. oh, and we drove. eight hours each way (with breaks).
and now, back to our regularly scheduled program... I need to clean the living room. sigh...

Wow, 8 hours of traveling each way with with 2 children under 2! You must be exhausted. We did a little 2 day vacation about a month ago, and I remember how pooped I was after the trip, and that was with just one little one, and a much shorter drive.
A few days after my DH went back to work, we were saying how we could really use a vacation, and then we both started laughing because we realized that we'd just come off of a vacation. Our conclusion from this conversation was that one of these days we need to get away for a day or 2, minus the baby, for a real vacation!  (Now who's volunteering to babysit? )

welcome back mummiedearest!
actually this is why I havent gone on vacation this summer. its more of a vacation for me to put both kids in their cribs at the same time so I can get some shut-eye, then drive for hours and then shlep 2 kids under 2 around all day!

Even if you didn't have the kids, pple need 1 day before getting back to work after a vacation. Just most pple don't get to  .

with your logic, no one should be complaining about lack of sleep when a baby keeps them up at nite; one day they'll all be married and you can sleep to your hearts content!

That logic is what got me through the newborn stages. Most stages, actually.
