| |
We are growing grape and cherry tomatoes (among other things) in our garden. All of a sudden they're ready to be eaten and we don't really like plain tomatoes (yes I should have thought about that before I planted them). For shabbos I used them in the KBDSOT edamame salad and also with grilled vegetables on skewers. Well, now I went out again today and have about 20 more - what can I make? _________________ Just Plain Frum!

| Fresh, home-grown tomatoes -- I'm so jealous. If I had a bunch I'd make pasta with fresh tomatoes. I'd toss them with pasta, with little chunks of mozarella, some fresh basil, maybe some chopped sun-dried tomatoes, some grated parmesan and a little olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic. Or I'd chop them with some other things for bruschetta. A million things. Grilled fish with sauteed little tomatoes, olives, fresh herbs, etc., on top. Lots of things. The rest of the year can be so dismal, tomato-wise, that it'd be fun to have a bunch to use over the summer.

KBD has a recipe for oven roasted tomatoes that's yummy. The recipe calls for different colored grape tomatoes, but I just use regular grape tomatoes, and it's still great. You'll probably need more than 20 little tomatoes though, because they shrink a lot when they bake.
You can also make a tomato avocado salad with freshly squeezed lemon, a bit of mayo, and salt. You can also add chopped red onion and sliced hearts of palm to that.
Re the edamame salad, yum! I love that recipe!

You can saute them with a little garlic and whatever herbs you like. They'll break down very quickly, and it makes a wonderful sauce for pasta. You could also cut them in half and roast them. My kids LOVE those. _________________ My pride & joy- and insanity:

Cherry tomato, hearts of palm and avocado salad. Add some red onion. Sometimes I add asparagus. From the Gatherings cookbook.
I love cherry tomatoes!! I have some in a bag in my purse all the time. Too bad I'm not your neighbour.
Could you post the edemame salad? I don't have that cookbook.

| Tomato - Feta salad. So easy. Half the tomatoes, cube feta cheese, drizzle with olive oil, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper - voila. You can add sliced fresh basil leaves as well. Great with a warm baguette.

| Thanks ffb - I made this salad minus the onion and asparagus
It was amazing. I just added some lemon juice a little olive oil and salt and pepper and it was amazing! The tomatoes were so sweet! Thanks
