I buy celery for soup use only. Sinceyou can generally only get celery by the bunch, I end up using 2 stalks and throwing the rest away as no one in the house likes it raw.

Any suggestions how to stop wasting like this?

Could I puree it and freeze it in small bunches to use in soups (since I puree a lot of the soups anyway) ?

Or just cut it into pieces like you would for the soup and freeze after washing and drying it.

As long as you're cooking it, freezing is fine. Don't defrost it before putting it into the soup though.

I think you need to first either cook or blanch any fruits and vegetables before freezing otherwise their vitamins and flavor break down and they aren't the right consistency.

What happens if you use celery for gefilte fish. Do the same rules apply? Can I freeze it and then cook it?

My mother bought these for me at bed bath and beyond. I was skeptical, but they totally work. Fruits and vegies stay fresh in the fridge for soo much longer.

Celery also stays fresher longer if you wrap it in foil.
