Pecan Cookies
1½ cup brown sugar
½ cup margarine
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
Mix together then add:
1½ cup flour
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt

Form into balls, put on cookie sheet and bake at 350' for 10-12 minutes
DO NOT OVERBAKE!!!!
Glaze:
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup coffee rich
1 cup confectioner sugar
Heat and mix until smooth, drizzle over cooled cookies and sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
Note: You will have extra glaze. It stays good in the fridge for months....

THIS IS THE COOKIE THAT ALWAYS GETS EATEN. Please note: All compliments garnered from these cookies are the property of sunshine! and need to be posted after eating....

Edited to get all those symbols out of the recipe. I guess it did something funny when I tranferred it from Word.

The pecans are sprinkled on top at the end.

I'm looking for cookies to freeze right now--how do these freeze?

Thanks!

so let's make this into a balabusta contest to guess how many pecans we are supposed to add
da winna gets a free oven mitt! (yeah rah!_

So my guess is 1 cup pecans, crushed right?

(I'm looking forward to trying this...I can vouch for Sunshine's recipes. Her Dream Cheesecake is a family favorite!)

Just to get in on the bet, I will say 3/4 cup.

depends on how nutty you want to be!
now I see we just sprinkle the pecans on top...
well, I only have walnuts...I hope that replacement might work? (have to shlepp all the way to town for pecans with our hechsher and can't do it today)...but I'll try it.

maybe that is why the recipe was called TOP SECRET...the SECRET is where the pecans are!

(mimivan, it's already morning where you are! I am still trying to unwind and go to sleep Thursday night. Just thinking that it's Friday morning somewhere is making me feel the stress.)

you know, I read this recipe like 12 times when it was first posted and I couldn't figure out why it was called pecan cookies if it has no pecans? but I figured that I am so sleep deprived that I must be missing something!
so, sunshine!, if you could post the exact amount of pecans, I would love to try your exclusive top secret recipe!

These do sound like the ultimate 'break your diet already' cookie.
I think I'll try those to serve my Shabbos guests. This and Cookielady's latest recipe.

Made these this morning! AMAZING! Thanks for the recipe!

FYI-they spread alot, so leave approx 2 inch around each ball.

Yes..I tried these for Shabbat
I think they would make the ideal "simcha cookie" like I could imagine these at a Vort or a bar mitzvah...they have a pecan pie kind of flavor in them
but for us, it is ALOT of sugar (I think it was a tad on the rich side for my kids) but we very much enjoyed them.

Thanks for posting
and bTW, I used walnuts and found they worked well.

There is a popular sweet in Israel which is basically a tart with whole walnuts in the middle and glazed topping over it. I can't find a recipe, but I can make a crust for the tart, fill with walnuts and was wondering if this glaze might be the right thing to put on the top...I'm thinking it would make the walnuts stick together?
