What brand, size, style (upright/chest) is your second freezer?
Do you like it? Why/ why not?
Where did you get it?
Thank you! I want one so badly, but I can't decide which one...

I wish I had one the size of the ad on the top of the page (A gigantic one the size that two men could step into!) _________________ "Olam Chessed Yiboneh", Tehilim 89.

I don't suggest a chest. Teh money difference is not worth it.
It is a myth that it saves space. On the contrary. It takes up more floor space and you don't gain any space in the height b/c you have to be able to open it! It attracts clutter and junk on top, and then it all slides off when you open it. It is also very difficult to store things in, b/c there are no shelves. Things can get buried there forever. And it is difficult to put things in that aren't stackable.
I have an upright. The brand is Woods. It's as big as they make 'em and enegy efficient. It is not frost-free b/c those give a freezer burnt taste. I am very happy with it.

I bought the cheapest one at SEARS on sale. Its upright. I bought it when I needed extra freezer space to store pumped milk... Its not self-defrosting.

we got this:
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_04603800000P?vName=Appliances
I dont know if that link works, but if you go to sears.com its called White Frigidaire Commercial 7.2 cu. ft. Chest Freezer
it was 500 dollars and no im not happy.
DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT get a chest freezer. We thought it would be a great space saver, but it is so impractical. Things get buried in there...I just cleaned it out a couple weeks ago, I found meat that was like over a year old, sorbet that I had saved from our SHEVA BRACHOS (that was about 3 yrs ago), I dont know, the most random things. There are no shelves (there is a "basket" on top but thats it) so it really doesnt stay organized. My new "system" (as of two weeks ago) is that different things go in plastic bags - I put all our chulent meat in a bag, all frozen milchig dinners in a bag, all baked goods in a bag. But seriously, that is so pathetic and I would much rather have an upright freezer. but for all the money we spent on it, im not getting an upright for a while....till we need a 3rd freezer like our parents. that wont be for quite a few yrs....

I got an upright Frigidaire Frost free. I know that now it's not recommended, but when I bought it 2 years ago, I was told the food will be just as good. I am very happy with it, I double wrap everything before it goes in, and have never had a problem with freezer taste. It also saves me a huge job of defrosting it every few months. I just have such bad memories of the days my mother would defrost her freezer, it was such a big hassle, so I'm really glad I saved myself on that.
You'll enjoy a second freezer so much, you won't be able to imagine how you've managed without it.

I have a frost free. I find my food stays delicios forever (well almost) and it doesn't take too long to defrost.
Once you are buying it get the biggest size you can fit - I'm sure you'll use it one day.

I've been wondering if I got too big. I got a 13.7 or 13.1 cu ft (can't remember which) Pesach time and the temperature control broke sometime around Shavuos (not sure exactly when) and I ended up throwing stuff out including other people's food. B"H it had all been free food given out Pesach time but still I felt bad.
Anyway whenever I get the temperature control working I'm planning on doing a few major cooking/baking sessions and having food for 3-4 weeks in there, IY"H
