I wish I wouldve taken highschool more seriously.
I wish I couldve had a better seminary year.
I wish I had something to do with my wedding preparations.
I wish we had spent our first year of marriage completeky engrossed in a kollel lifestyle.
I could go on and on.

I wish that I had met dh as a child and we had grown up together.
I wish that I had not had to be my family's caretaker since I was 15 and I would have had a normal teenagerhood.
I wish that I would have lived the life I wanted and not the one that my mother wanted and pushed me into by guilt that I had to make up for what hitler did to my family.
I wish that I had told off a lot of people earlier.
I wish that I would have realized that so much of what I was taught was narishkeit and stopped taking it seriously and feeling guilty about it (I don't mean yiddishkeit, but other things)
I wish that I hadn't put on weight (but it's not too late..)
I sometimes wish that I had gone into a profession where I could have made a lot of money so that we wouldn't worry about the financial future.
I sometimes wish that I wouldn't have moved to EY because then I would have lived a much calmer life, wouldn't have had to be my family's caretaker, and wouldn't worry so much about day to day security and the life of my children. But only sometimes, like when I am on a trip to America and realize what a sick and abnormal life we live in the middle east on a daily basis...but then I come home and get sucked into it again...and america becomes a far dream..

No regrets. Not one.

I guess we all have regrets but the main thing is to learn from them. We need to make sure that we better our judgment and decision making so that we don't amass more 'I wish's' tomorrow and thereafter.

Also, how about all the things we got right, the 'I'm glad's';

I am glad that I chose my family over my career;
I am glad that I made aliyah;
I am glad that I embarked on an ongoing journey to improve my yiddishkeit;
I am glad that I developed self confidence and optimism as I grew older.

I agree sharona, let's look at what we are happy about.

That I have the greatest husband in the world.
That my mother and in laws are still alive
That my children are healthy
That my job allows me a certain amount of security
That I have a lovely home.
That I'm losing weight
That I have my sight (my mother is losing hers so it's a real trauma)
That I have so many wonderful friends
That I have my faith.

My father a"h used to say "you have emunah but you don't have bitochon". He is right. I have emuna but I don't have bitochon. I know where that comes from two but that belongs on the second generation forum...in any case..things that I wish...

I wish I had bitochon...

I just wish that I had traveled more before I got married. There is so much of the world that I want to see. But on the plus side, since I got married rather young I will still be young enough to enjoy traveling when my kids are old enough for me to take off on a life of adventure. Plus I will always have my husband as a traveling companion. And maybe by then I will actually have enough money to travel...

I also wish that I'd traveled more before marriage. I always pushed it off because I didn't want to use vacation days, but now I wish I'd gone on trips with friends. Especially since DH is not into travelling!

I wish I had the self confidence that I have now in adolescence

I wish I would have been less awful to my parents during my preteen/teenage years

I wish I would have found out about Imamother years ago... Laughing

thing I wish I had done before it was too late:

gone to the bathroom.
mailed that bill with a stamp.
put the fish in the fridge.

Laughing

I like to be an optimist about the past. I only make lists for the future - what I want to do so I wont regret it.

yeah red sea, I'm an optimist in general. B"H. makes life sunny even in the pouring rain.

however, when my optimism hits a low, it's a real thunderstorm that startles people.

See but I didnt say I was an optimist about the present or the future where I must be about 50% pessimistic & I could give you a list - I only made claim about the past Surprised
