I like to cook and don't mind spending alot of time in the kitchen (in fact, its hard to pull away!) but I am having a creativity block coming up with parve dinners. The only thing I have succesfully not repeated is soup, that I can always make differently..

DH doesnt like fleishigs, and milchigs gets expensive...I dont want to make the same things over and over again, anyone have ideas for parve suppers? Or even what to give him for lunches? he also doesn't eat fish or mayonaise...

Suggestions greatly appreciated! Smile

I love parve meals because we don't eat much dairy and how much meat can you eat already?

Do you and dh like beans? Tofu? Those make good proteins to go along with a nice stir fry (or steamed if you prefer) veggies and pasta or rice. Sometimes I will just make black beans and rice with a nice big salad and/or veggie soup.

But the green beans with garlic would be good...I also made squash soup last night Smile that was yummy.

you can make quiche or frittata or omelette. use only a little cheese for flavour.

lentil soup.

breslov once posted a recipe for lentil "meat"balls, see if you can find it. she said her husband thought they were meat.

hmm...

you can make vegetable lo mein.

sometimes we make a parve lasagna-- I use pizza sauce for the sauce since we love the flavor and I saute onions, red pepper, green pepper (and sometimes mushrooms if im in the mood) in ome oil and put on top of the sauce of each level. sometimes I just boil pasta and put the sauted veggies and sauce right over it.

cheeseless pizza topped with plenty of vegetable served with french fries and a salad

you can do mexican- I usually serve it with spanish rice but maybe you can do it without it. add baked beans, guacamole, some lettuce in a tortilla wrap or taco shell. we also serve it with spanish rice as I mentioned and some cheddar cheese sprinkled over it.

pea soup and bagette

would ur dh be interested in any soy foods? there are different kinds of soy cutlets available like corn cutlets.

thats all I can think of for now. good luck!

vegan here so im very used to making pareve meals

if you want to make something creamy that would call for mayo, try vegenaise, its made with soy bean oil, so much healthier, and tastes the same or even better than the real thing.

quinoa is a great grain, also kasha/buckwheat, lentils, couscous, these are all so easy to make

sushi! I make just with vegetables - avacado, cucumber, carrot, mushroom, etc

Lentils, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, onion, salt n pepper and cilantro.

You can use this same recipe for brown beans.

How about a vegetarian stew?
fry some onions, add in potatoes cut in smallish peices, fry for a while with onions, add alittle bit of water and vegetarian sausages and spices and cook till soft!
