my 1 yr old hates the bath. She hates when I wash her hair with the water. How do you all do it without getting water in the eyes? She stands up and cries and won't let me get the soap out of her hair and she won't put her head back. How can I do it?

lie her down on your arm so that her head is up and the water doesnt go in her eyes. if someone else is home maybe they can distract her with bublles, a book or something like that.. if not, maybe u can try and distract her while her head is up too.. like maybe get something cool to put on the sealing and have her look at it so u can wash the shampoo out

If laying down, like happymom said, what I do, is do the back first, all of it and then when I'm ready for the front, I first just pour water with a cup, while covering the whole face. After I see that it looks pretty good, I quickly do it 2-3 times more, this time while using my hand to help get the soap out better.

I've tried that shampoo rinse cup and it's horrible. it totally doesn't help at all.she won't let me near her with a 10 foot pole! I've also tried laying her down in my arms and she just frieked out. She got scared doing that. and I used to just pour water over hear head, but I think that that's why she hates when I wash out her hair. argggggg! She has a blast in the tub until it's time to wash out the soap from her hair!

my 18 month old is petrified of water. she won't sit down. she used to love it, but now bath time is punctuated by howls. so much fun. if I come near her with a cup of water, she sticks her head out of the tub over the floor & I get water everywhere.

you could try soaking a washcloth and squeezing it out over her head and scrubbing her hair with it. It takes longer to get all the soap out but water doesn't get in the eyes and its not as "scary" as a cupful full of water all at once.

my kids lie down on their own, leaning on their elbws. so at least the back of their hair is sorta soapless without me even touching them. what I do then is have them look all the way up and use a cup carefully. since their head is angled back already it doesnt get in their eyes. sometimes I let out some water so that when they lie down the back of their head can touch the bathtub and their face is out of the water. this way they dont feel like they can fall in the water. if u splash the water gently or use a washcloth, u can get the soap out from the top of the head even though the water doesnt reach there

I sometimes hold the baby's head under the faucet of the sink after she's out of the tub and wrapped in a towel to get the last of the soap out. (my faucet is plastic , and I hold her carefully) Its hard to adjust the temperature of the water though while holding her.

I don't shampoo every bath, just a couple times a week. I usually make him cry though. I try to cover his face while I pour the water over his head. He's still super enthusiastic about taking a bath though.

My 3 1/2 year old still cries when I wash out the shampoom! I tried so many different things, but nothing that worked. So I've now learnt with both girls that I just need to ignore the crying and do it as quickly as I can, so they can go back to playing.

I can't try the washcloth idea because dd's hair is an absolute mop. no baby floss for my dd. I have to wash her hair every bath because she shvitzes & because she likes shampooing her hair with her meals. yogurt, bananas, etc... I have to scrub her head to get the food particles out. I think I'm going to start combing it before her bath with a lice comb. it might be a good idea, but she won't let me. I basically ignore her to, but it breaks my heart to torture her & listen to her scream.
