I used to collect Coke bottles, but since I don't go to too many different places, that collection petered out at about 4 or 5 bottles.

I have collected spoons from most places that I have been since I was seven. I have them hanging on my wall in my kitchen.

key chains, magnets and push pins with the country's flag on it.- not what do I do with those? I use to keep them on my backpack when I backpacked europe, no what? Rolling Eyes

I never set out to get souvenirs, but often I end up getting something practical, and even if it is not especially glamorous or obviously connected to the place, when I use it again I remember. I once had to buy a pair of comfortable shoes somewhere. even though I could have gotten the same type of shoes at home, I knew that it was from that place.

for us pictures are enough.. something that wont break, and something that will last a lifetime!!! Smile

My dh has and I have been thinking of something more original then the usual keychains, magnets, shotglasses etc

We've decided to collect picture frames with something designed on it to remind us of where we went (obviously with the pic inside it).

We bring back a magnet from each place, unfortunatly my kids love to "Tchep" anything on the fridge and lots of them have gotten broken, Now I know that next time no more clay magnets or magnets with moving peices LOL

When I was single I collected key chains and shot glasses... when I got married I still collect shot glasses but I started a magnet collection for my fridge/freezer! Its cheap and reminds us of all the places we went!!!

My husband started collecting shotglasses in high school and we still collect them. Last year for his birthday/Chanukah I bought him 6 holders for the shotglasses so that they can be displayed in his work area instead of collecting dust in a box.
My mother collects magnets and MIL collects aprons.
