at least this year - I'm so depressed and I can't handle this.
(Tachlis, my girls figure I'm under the weather and getting older - all true - so they're doing the bulk of it.)

Thanks for listening.

I hate it too. we moved the fridge tongiht and killed four live roaches, 2 of which got away and I had to ask my dh to come home from melaveh malkah to dispose of. Ugh.

I'm so happy that by tomorrow night the house will IYH be kasheering-ready. It's been a tough 2 months.

Yes you can say it. One of my co-worker's says it and the other gets upset.

I'm sure you get the satisfaction of seeing the house spotless after you finish anyway.

I always say B"H at least Pesach is 8 days can you imagine doing all this for just 1 day of Pesach?

My son-in-law's Bubba has a saying.... she puts her "shirtzel" on erev Pesach and doesn't take it off until Motzei Pesach.

what is the hard part of the cleaning for u?

I think that if u start right after purim, do a little every day, it shouldnt be hard, u wont feel like u are working your kishkas out.

of course - it just seems to be getting harder every year to get there.

wonderful point - one of my reasons for not going away is to enjoy my own clean home!

what's a "shirtzel"? (besides "little shirt"?)

Hi,

I agree with you. I HATE Pesach and that makes me so sad! I don't think this is what G-d intended. Something's wrong with this picture.

I remember in particular one year before Pesach, I was standing in line in the supermarket before Pesach listening to this CACOPHANY of kvetching from the women in lines all around me who apparently knew each other. Kvetching about how much they'd done, still had to do, how tired they were, how many guests they were having or bragging/comparing about how much they'd done as compared to Mrs. X, Y or Z. I'm listening to this and thinking "YUCK! This is all backwards! If I was leaving Egypt tomorrow I would be dancing and singing and skipping and doing cartwheels! Not going 'Ugh, what a drag!'" I vowed then and there to vastly downshift in my Pesach preps so I would not be like those women. I mean, honestly, since when is painting the inside of the house mandatory for Pesach? Why can't those who want to do that, do it for Chanuaka when there's less OBLIGATORY work connected with the holiday? Why dafka for Pesach do people just HAVE to paint? When was the last time you ate on YOUR ceiling??? I feel the same about bookshelves and closets. I don't know about you but I do not eat on my bookshelves or in my closet. And folks, DUST IS NOT CHAMETZ!

This year, I did the bedrooms as I do for Shabbat, dusted and mopped floors. Vacuumed under the couch cushions. The big push will be the kitchen.

I just refuse to get high blood pressure over all of this. I think most of us lose sight of the forest for the trees at this time of year. We need to zoom out big time.

You can say you hate it as long as you aren't going way overboard!

NO, I'm really not. The problem is more tirdensss from overwork out of the house combined with the fact that I'm not getting any younger. My kdis are great - but they do overdo it, and love rearranging the house. So I let them do their own thing and leave the fridge to me. I'll be glad this year when it's all over!

Yes, since we work, on top of it, it is hard.

I had to pull an all-nighter last night to get the kitchen kosher because my babysitter is off from Monday and I still have to work but without childcare...I'm not so organized by nature, but necessity forced me to rush..

(thanks for letting me kvetch)...but b'h I got it early...now I have the living room to do, but I can do that with little ones running around (some of it is done...)

but do I have a headache from sleep deprivation! And now I have to somehow find the koach to work all day...

iy'h my dh will do his office, the computers, the car, the shopping...I really really hope it works out...

And good to hear your daughters are helping you too, grin.
