| B"H my dd has a lot of hair-and curly hair at that! Every morning when I get her, her hair is all over the place! I end up having to comb through it and put it in a pony tail, pig tails, or clips. But it's sooooo knotty! How do I avoid this issue? This is especially bad after a bath since her hair dries in her crib and it's a jumbled mess in the morning! I already bought L'oreal's detangler spray, but that doesn't always do the trick. Any ideas?

I spray my kids hair w\ water every single day and brush from the bottom of their hair first while holding her hair from the root w\ my hand so they dont feel the knots pulling. I work my way up while I keep holding their hair, ad I get the bumps out w\ a boars hair bristle brush. Yes its a whole system but it works!! (Thats aside from washing their hair w\ conditioner which also helps a little)
I have 5 girls and lots of experience in the area feel free to PM me if you have any more ques! Its funny only I can do my kids hair, anyone else who tries fails miserably! You shoulda seen my kids hair when I was in the hospital after giving birth!!! One of the Morahs ran outside to ask my mother what was going on at home! It was quite funny What can I say I take pride in my kids hair!

My way was simple and practical, but you won't like it: dd had short hair till she was old enough to take care of it herself. It didn't do her any harm: by 8th grade her hair was almost down to her waist, which is quite enough hair for anyone and too much for many.
I am utterly repulsed by little girls (or big girls, for that matter, or big or little boys) with hair hanging in their faces. makes no difference if it's curly, frizzy, dreadlocks or arrow-straight. yuck, yuck, yuck. Even my beloved niece, who has the loveliest silky locks--I feel like strangling my sister with a hair ribbon for not putting her dd hair into braids or at least a ponytail. Get it out of her face, for crying out loud! It's nauseating when the child comes to the table and her hair gets in her mouth, in the food, on the table...I've done things like tear a strip off a shmatte or use a twist-tie--whatever is at hand--to tie her hair back just so it'll be out of her face and off the table.
However, I suspect I'm alone in this opinion.

sorry you would be repulsed by my daughter. Her hair doesn't hold a pony very long or a barette either. Too thin, smooth, I guess. We were trying to grow out her bangs in order that they be long enough to pull back (but she cut off one side of her hair so we'll be waiting longer).
Why don't I just cut it short? I don't like it, dd doesn't like it. So why should I?

amother, I can assure you my kids' hair is NEVER in their faces! Its always either in pigtails or half up or something. and theyre hair does not have to be up to the ears in order for it to be neat. I get compliments on how neat my kids look all the time, and their hair is NOT up to their ears and they definitely dont look like a bunch of shlumpy messes.
Short hair is not the only way to be neat.

| I found that spraying in leave-in-conditioner, combing through, and putting DD to bed in a pony did the trick.

The trick with curly hair is to not comb it when dry!!! It must be wet and conditioned (with spray on) in order to comb it. I would recommend you spray it with a solution of mostly water with some conditioner, and then use your fingers to comb through and then put in a pony. I know this from personal experience. _________________ Just Plain Frum!

by the way it was such a shock for me to deal with curly hair! my hair was stick straight and I never even had to comb it even when on the shidduch scene...just spritz a little and run my fingers through it and it looked amazing.
I have to take more care of my sheitl than I ever did my own hair! my "curly girls" as I sometimes call them are a real learning experience.

See, that's what I do, too. It is SO time consuming, and my son screams the entire time.

My son pulls out all clips. Ponytails he sometimes leaves in. BUT... that straightens out his hair! I don't like to do that often.
And I don't like spraying detangler often either! (Chemicals)
I love his hair, but I think I'll love his peyos even more. Nice thick curls! _________________

| I have curly hair and I know how to deal with mine, but when dd sleeps, OMG, in the morning her hair is standing up straight off her head! I usually put in pony, pigtails etc... But gosh, it's a pain to deal with. I'll try the half pony thing, only 1 Q... doesn't that leave a mark in her hair?

| Yes, the pony leaves a mark, and the hair above it straightens out. That's what I don't like to do it. But it's SO easy to brush afterwards!

Amother, sorry but I’m absolutely repulsed by little girls with tiny haircuts (to use your word). I think Hashem gave us hair, show it off! As long as you can…
To keep hair silky, switch a brand of shampoo every time the bottle is finished. When hair gets used to one shampoo, it stops reacting to it.
Also, a bottle that has shampoo + conditioner in it makes the hair thicker and frizzier. Using a separate shampoo and THEN conditioner is magic.
And finally, brushing in the morning is with water, and spray on detangler if needed. _________________ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
