I modified the truffle centerpiece that someone posted in another topic (truffles would be TOOO expensive) and used pecans and papaya in the pot.

That was me. I actually did it for my daughters teacher I used chocolate that when it was hardening I stuck a toothpick in the middle. And for the pot I used a basket and used pretzals dipped into chocolate. I made a small clown and put it sitting in the middle of all the pretzals. It really looked amazing.

I love your idea how you changed everything. You must have worked hard on it. It took me a while to figured out how the styrofoam that I cut out wouldn't tip with all the chocolate.

Thanks for that! It was a great jumping off point. And your modification sounds REALLY cute, too! I'd love to see a picture if you have any.

Um...yeah - I think next time I'll time myself when I make the first one and if it's over about 5 minutes - on to the next idea! Each one takes a half hour from beginning to end. But we're only making 16. So I spent a few hours on Sunday working on it and then a couple of hours a night.

The styrofoam didn't take too long to figure out just because I'm relatively comfortable with working with styrofoam. I make all sorts of centerpieces (semi-professionally) and use ALOT of styrofoam so that wasn't a problem. Though it's true, this specific piece is a bit tippy. As long as it was pretty firmly glued in, though, I didn't find it to be too much of an issue.

Chag Sameach!

ok, I need help, I finally finished making and assembling the cakes, now here is where the questions come in -

1- do I put like 2 cherries or s/t like that in the circle?

2- do I buy fancy ribbon to tie the boxes in or leave it plain with a label?

that was my first plan but dh said I dont need it but nowthats its together, I am not so sure. these are 1/2 of my mm going to the elders or pple who get hakaros hatov. [everyone with little kids is getting nice package wih asst nosh].

so plz help Help

Very pretty Shalach Manos!!

I would put white gift tissue paper under the cake to fill up the box. I don't think you need to add anything in the center, the cake is pretty as is, but if you want some more work you can add the cherries Very Happy . A ribbon on the outside of the box would add a lot.

Btw, what cake is that? It looks Yummm!!!

thanx smiles. I am going to get ribbon to tie the box as per all the advice here & in chat and skipping cherries, I am not going to put tissue paper - its the bakery box made for this size cake, so I think thats good enough but I guess its a bit lower in height than the bakery cakes, oh well, wasnt going to add a third layer. its a really great recipe I once ate at someones house and took the recipe for.

Shabboss is coming soon
There's no time to cook and bake
We've prepared some takeout food
In which we hope you will partake

There's soda and desert
A frank, some fries, some rings
Eat drink and be merry
As you feast like kings!

The fries are potato sticks with a picture of fries on the bags, the franks are made of marshmallows
