I can't remember the exact name of the recipe, but am pretty sure I saw it here on Imamother.
It has shredded cabbage inside, and a duck-sauce glaze.....
If anyone has this recipe, or can tell me where I can find it, I would really appreciate it!!! (and so will my family!!!)

Thanks for posting the recipe!!!
I have a question for anyone who can help:
I ran out of mustard, what else can I spread on the dough (instead of the mustard)?
Do I have to saute' the veggies first? what will happen if I just put the shredded cabbage on the dough, raw? will it get cooked while the pastries are in the oven?
Thanks!!

I don't know what else to use besides mustard- it gave it an extra kick. Maybe use duck sauce on the inside???
Yes, you have to saute them- you need the cabbage to get soft and absorb the onion flavor from the onions and the salt and pepper. I made them- froze them raw and will just brush duck sauce on them and pop em in the oven tomorrow morning.
They are really amazing

OK.... So I ended up making them for our Seudah (appetizer), and they were such a HIT!!!!
Everyone LOVED them!!
In the end I got mustard. and I DID saute the cabbage and onions, but I also added 3 cloves of sliced garlic.
And, instead of using duck-sauce, I used Sweet-Hot Chilly Sauce.
It was SO good!!! (and spicey!!!)

I also had them for seudah and they were also such a big hit. I also kept an extra tray that I didn't use for the seudah and gave some to people delivering shalach manos- they also loved them. I still have one uncooked tray in the freezer. I like the garlic idea Mishie. Thanks!

I just made these and they are great. I had extra filling so I ccoked bow tie pasta and mixed it with that, also a great taste.
I think next time I make them, I may add some shredded turkey pastrami to the filling, I think that would give it an even better taste.

I was searching for cabbage and came across this recipe. It looks really interesting. I'd like to make it for Shavuos.
Anyone make it recently?
Can I use puff pastry instead of Mallawach?
Cookielady, did you end up trying it with the deli inside?
Thanks!

I never did make it again. I would think you could use puff pastry instead Mallawach, both similar types of dough. Enjoy.

Mallawach is very fatty and a whole different texture. It will work with puff pastry, but this sounds amazing! Thanks for posting, I'm getting to it first thing tomorrow! Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Mrs. K-I know this is really old, but do you remember if you used puff pastry instead of mallawach? I have some defrosted and want to make these.
Thanks!
