All the kugels are oily and mostly all traditional foods are terrible for cholesterol. Other than chopping up a fresh salad erev Shabbos, do you have any hearty filling ideas? I’m talking about a filling food, something like a regular supper to keep the kids full from the time of eating (about 4 pm) until the Seudah.
One week I prepared chicken wings in a pan on Thursday and baked it on Friday so it was convenient… I think it can get boring quickly. _________________ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

I actually make it a part of my shabbos prep to make a huge salad (if I am really good I do it Thursday night) or a big veggie platter. We all sit and enjoy a great lunch.
If you don't want to do that just make extra chicken and maybe easy roasted potatoes for them to snack on.

| It’s not enough. there’s got to be something… maybe egg salad sandwiches.. ? I’m at a loss. I want to start a happy memory based on something healthy. Thanks.

| I sometimes do fried chicken cutlets on wed. or thurs. and save some for friday afternoons for the kids. Fried stuff stays fresh for a couple of days. As for myself I sometimes make cauliflower kugel and have a huge salad.

| every week, we would have grilled chicken. it was always something we enjoyed - it's not the usual baked chicken and we also had potato's/sweet potatooes in the microwave.

For lunch or for a snack? In our house, the rule is, you eat lunch where you are, on Friday.
For a snack, I usd to eat Aveirah cookies but now I'm ont to: granola bar, apple, a handful of nuts.

| I Make a big chulent on Friday morning before I go to work. My chulents are kinda healthy. I use lots of barley, spices, potatoes (you can even use sweet potatoe for even healthier)onions and lean meat. I always have a big bowl when I get home from work.

| hmm im at a loss. My family always ate before shabbas to hold us over till dinner. My mother would just give us from the food she prepared for shabbas. Sometimes she prepared something different like she would make a pan of chicken bottoms or buy a 1lb of turkey deli meat and coleslaw.
