Things You’ll Need:
Large pot with cover
Stove
Plain popcorn
Vegetable oil
Potholders or oven mitts
Step 1:
Put two tbsp. of vegetable oil in the bottom of a large pot.

Step 2:
Add enough popcorn to cover the bottom of the pan.

Step 3:
Turn heat on stove eye to medium high. Listen and look for the first popcorn kernel to pop.

Step 4:
Put the lid on the pot. Using potholders or oven mitts begin shaking the entire pot over the stove eye.

Step 5:
Continue shaking the pot until you no longer hear kernels popping. Remove from heat.

Step 6:
Remove the lid and season the hot popcorn with your choice of seasonings. Eat and enjoy

Googled: 1 ounce of unpopped popcorn kernels (2 tablespoons household measure) makes
approximately 1 quart of popped popcorn.

I use a pot with about 1/3 cup of kernels tossed with oil. My pot is about 4 quarts.

Follow greenfires advice. Use plenty of oil and don't just leave it sitting on the fire -keep shaking as soon as the popping stops take it off. Cover as soon as you put the kernels in and don't take off the lid till it's done.
