Our Rav says yes, and some Ricolas and Ludens have hechsherim (but the Ludens are dairy). Your LOR may feel differently.

I bought halls drops by accident once and I called the OU to see if they knew about its kashrus status and they said that its not under their hechsher or any other that they know of.

ask your rav if medicine needs a hechsher at all, and if yes if all medicine needs it or only "comfort" medicine.

Ricola products:

Are all your products Kosher?

All of our cough, throat and vitamin c drops are Kosher and are manufactured in Laufen, Switzerland. If a copy of the kosher certificate is needed, please write to info@ricolausa.com requesting a certificate and providing us with a fax number or address to forward a copy.

I found this at http://www.ricolausa.com/faq/3?section=2

We were told that cough drops need a hechsher. The Rikola in our community have a sticker on the bags with a hechsher from Switzerland...I wonder why I can't get a roll of stickers like whoever has them and stick them on my bag from CVS. Are the made in different runs, or are some just stickered and some not?
