what can I use as a substitute for fish sauce?
I heard hoi-sin is good but I cant find it here (any israelis know where I can get it???)

| I use soy sauce. It's probably not the same, but never having tasted fish sauce I have no way of knowing and the food usually comes out good-tasting.

what kind of fish??
if its any baked fish I like to put chopped parsley and garlic,or olive oil and garlic and bake it.
is that a fish sauce??

Fish sauce is the most common ingredient in Thai cooking. It is also used in many other types of Asian cuisine. This sauce is called Nam Pla in Thai and Nuoc Mam in Vietnamese. The sauce is made by placing fish in barrels where it is left to ferment. The resulting liquid is the strong smelling, flavorful fish sauce. The strong smell dissipates when it cooks and leaves a distinctive complex flavor.
