| |
I just recently met someone who is training to be a life coach...
It got me thinking...this could be something that I might enjoy/be good at...it just sounded so interesting. Ive done some research but where better to get info on something you dont know much about than here:
SOOOOO...anyone please if youve used one, considered using one, know of one, if your related/friends with one or even if you are one: could you tell me what its like, is this something that would/does fly in religious circles?? Is it popular?
If you used one was it helpful?
If you are one I would obviously love to hear from you,
Anyone can PM me if they would rather talk on the DL.
Thanks everyone in advance (for helping me find something to do in my life that I can really love and feel passionate about.)

I'm sorry, I don't really know anything that could help you, but knowing you, I know that you'd be great at it _________________ Just Plain Frum!

| Isn't becoming a life coach like becoming a social worker/shrink with very little training? I know someone who just became a life coach who is so not together in her own life that I don't know how she administers help to others. To me personally, I think becoming a life coach is a cop out for someone who wants the job without the effort of the training or the extensive schooling. I personally would never go to one.

| My friend who does it went to a course at night for a few months and now is specializing in helping older signle girls deal with their "issues" and get engaged. Sounds fishy to me. NJMommy I am just offering my own valid opinion. I personally would never go to a life coach, and would rather be helped by a real professional if I felt the need. Just because I don't like the profession doesn't have to set you so on the defensive. Isn't this an open forum for women to talk and offer opinions? Or does it only apply when the opinion matches your own?

you don't have to like life coaches. but you should know what you are criticizing, and real life coaches are not social workers/shrinks.
for someone to have a valid opinion, it should be based on factual and complete information--you are judging all coaches on one friend.

I think this would be an ideal career move for you CM!
I can't think of a better career fit.
As far as if it flies in the frum world...I've seen advertisements for life coaches here in Yirushalaim...so for sure it is something that would fly in the U.S

| NJMommy, why are you afraid to say publicly what training a life coach gets and what exactly it is they do?

| I'm abiding by this site's TOS and if you are so interested you could pm me for a website where you can get accurate and succinct information. I'm not hiding anything. this is a forum, not the classifieds so I will not advertise for my MIL. it's a waste of time to retype everything that is found on that website when those that are interested could just go there.

| OK, so forget what they do exactly. Training is a simple answer. Is it oneyear full time, two , three, one month? four night classes? How long does a person train to become a life coach?

| Not at all. I have no issues with my friend whatsoever. I have just heard of a lot of life coaches lately and am really curious about their qualifications. Is it so crazy to want to know how long a person studies or trains to be able to coach people with their lives? I really am interested in what exactly a life coach does if it isn't simillar to a social worker or a psychiatrist, and how long it takes to be qualified.
