Just got a great tip, so I thought others might benefit as well. Took a sponge and some toothpaste (Kids' Crest) to my dining room walls. My 2-year-old son just decorated them with black marker while I was out teaching. Worked like a charm. Now to remind my DH not to let him have markers unsupervised, that's a whole other story.

I found baby wipes work great if the wall has real paint instead of whitewash.
And my kids get the honor of cleaning the walls themselves.

| For permanent marker on furniture, try orange oil, work perfectly
