| Sounds good, JM. I make either sticky green beans with red peppers and honey or green beans with sesame vinaigrette.

Boil them, drain.
Mix 1T oli, 3T soy sauce, 1t sugar together. Mince 6 cloves of garlic.
Spray the pan with PAM. Sautee the garlic for 2 minutes. Add the green beans, sautee for a couple of minutes so they are covered in garlic, add the mixture &mix & serve. They are fine to be reheated & taste amazing.

I make the same thing without boiling them and without the sugar. I stir fry them with a bit of olive oil, lots of soy sauce and lots of garlic. (sorry I don't use measurements) Then I let them cook a bit with the cover on. They are delicious!!!

I love string beans, even just plain steamed is good. I usually saute them in a little olive oil with onions, garlic and ginger and then add either sesame seeds or toasted pine nuts at the end.
My MIL makes a string bean casserole where she just lays them in a baking dish, pours mushroom soup on top and then does a top layer of either bread crumbs or those crunchy fried onions they sell, and bakes. I don't personally love it cause I like my string beans firm, not mushy, but other people seem to really like it.

Here's a very easy recipe that I actually got off of Imamother a while ago, it's delicious:
Put green beans in baking pan,
mix together equal amounts of sugar, oil and soy sauce and pour the mixture over the green beans,
bake covered for about 30 minutes ( I don't remember exactly), really depends how soft you like it.
when it's done you can pour sesame seeds over it, looks really nice.
Everyone loves this recipe.

I make the ones from kosher by design.
Sautte then in margerine (or oil) salt and black peper until bright green.
In another pot sautte thinly sliced shallots with a little salt, until crisp. Put shallots over green beans.

| I love hearing new ways to make veggies, so thank you all for your recipes. I'm just curious though, do you use fresh or frozen string beans for these recipes?

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I'll need to try them
I got another one that could be used with either fresh or frozen.
Take:
A bag of string beans
2 T olive oil
1-2 onions
3 cloves garlic, sliced
1/2 red pepper
1/2 yellow pepper
Sautee it all together. When that is done, add 1/3 cup honey, 3 T soy sauce, 1 T flour.

Shoy18 gave me this recipe a while ago. It became my husband's favorite side dish. It's delicious! _________________

when I need it in a hurry, I sometimes use the canned string beans. I sautee it with garlic, almonds, and soy sauce. sesame seeds, if I have. _________________ Jack of all trades- Master of Some.

if we're talking about the canned green beans here, lemme give you a winner. canned green beans, still in the can, add 2-3 garlic cloves, sliced. some lemon juice and salt. cook 2 minutes. yyyyuuuum. I just got in the mood of this. think I'll go make some. _________________ There are no atheists in a fox hole.

| My recipe is delicious with fresh green beans, it becomes all juicy, I've never tried it with frozen, but it probably won't have the juiciness.

| I like the skinny green beans that you can buy frozen at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc. I steam them until just tender, toss with a little oil and salt. Then I saute a box of sliced mushrooms and add them to the green beans. Yum!
