well isn't that basically xtian opinion for 2000 years?
at least she doesn't hide what she thinks...

Of course public people need to learn to keep their mouth shut, or at least install a filter Laughing but don't worry, she has insulted pretty much every group under the sun.

I thought I liked her but then I started actually reading her columns and began to re-think. She says some really wacky stuff! I agree Ruchel. She needs to install a filter. Instead I guess I'll install the "ignore ann coulter" filter [:

As a lifelong Democrat from a family of long-time Democrats, I might take exception to your statement.

professor, I agree with Clarissa, at least in part. I think the majority of Jews in America identify with the Democratic party, so how can they be more anti-semitic than the Republicans? However, I was also raised a Democrat, but I'm finding the party's policy on gay "rights", abortion, and Eretz Yisroel vis a vis the "Palestinians" just is not in my interests as a Jew, and needless to say, I've been much less of a Democrat since I became frum...

It is hard to abandon the party entirely for sentimental reasons.(I haven't voted in a while)..but I would much prefer to see Guiliani in than Hilary (who is very pro-Arab)

I would only hope it would make a difference.

I"m conflicted. My whole background is also democratic. Then like mimivan says I shifted when I became frum.

Now I'm nowhere. How can anyone actually like the members of the Bush administration? Not like Kerry would have been better but blech.

The fact that sooo many Jews in America are registered Democrats does not negate the fact that there is a strong antisemitism within the Democratic party.

I like Ann Coulter. I don't agree with everything she says... clearly not her comments about Jews needing to "get with the program" or however she said it... but I like most of what she says. Yes, she is VERY coarse - but she is (in my eyes) in the entertainment business and this is her schtick.

Besides, her comment about Jews should come as no surprise. I think the majority of religious christians share this view, even if they don't say it.

I don't think Ann Coulter's comments about Jews were surprising either, given her beliefs.

Yes. people seem to forget Hilary Clinton's "Jew B*stard" comment about one of Clinton's aides when he was governor...(I have no idea how this story was forgotten) or how Clinton, with the Mark Rich scandal at the very end of his "regime" blamed Jewish pressure for his pardon of Rich...or how Hilary tried to appeal to the Jews of NY by saying her grandfather's second wife after he was widowed was Jewish (not anti-Semitic but a very stupid way of trying to get the Jewish vote, in my opinion)

However, I don't think the Democratic party is more anti-Semitic than the Republican party, but it's policies are...I hate agreeing with Dick Armey and Rush Limbaugh about anything...but they did speak out about not giving away land to the Palestinians. And they were almost alone in that.

The Democratic party was like a religion in our family. I have a brother and brother in law who are very involved with Democratic politics. I still have sentimental memories of watching the Democratic convention on TV, listening to Mario Cumo's speeches with tears in my eyes and being absolutely over the moon when Chuck Schumer won the Senate seat, but these are all sentimental memories, and like my involvement with the secular theater, I have little need for these things now that I have become frum...

I don't vote, but if I do, I am really rooting for Rudy (at least he refused to Shake Arafat's hand...even in the dizzy days of Post-Oslo)

That is hysterical -- the site automatically took out Armey's first name. At least it didn't substitute one of the site words. Aiver Armey?

Yeah, historically many Jews voted left or democrat. But I don't understand how today they can vote for these parties, who used to be PRO but are now AGAINST us, because they dislike Israel... coming from a right wing family, I really can't stand that Hilary.

The majority of Jews you're talking about are the irreligious ones mainly. The frum people I know are all Republicans or vote for whoever's most conservative.

Look at the big Jewish Democrats in Washington- with very few exceptions, they care more for the "poor, oppressed Arabs" than they do for the Jews, the fact that they're Jewish doesn't mean all that much to them either. I don't see a reason to be hanging on to the Democratic party just for the fact that there are so many (not-frum) Jews that belong to it, or used to belong to it.

Personally, I don't feel like there's a major difference between the two parties. What kind of choice is it when you have to choose the bad one over the worse one?

I also foresee a Hillary vs. Rudy campaign. Hillary is worse than a bad joke, and I don't trust Rudy, he's a typical politician.

Will a real leader please step up to the plate and run for office? Or is that too much to ask? Confused

Just had to point out that non-affiliated Jews make up the vast, vast majority in the USA.
The tiny minority of Republican Jews-I.e. frum, right wing- don't really factor in to the stats too much...

Traditionally non-frum Jews have been Democrats because of the party's stance on aid for the poor and civil rights. But the Democratic party now , mstands for so many things that are contrary to Jewish values and is now anti-Israel.

GR is right that there are many left wing Jews in Washington who care more about the so-called Palestinians than their brothers and sisters in E.Y. They are embarrassed by our existence. To prove this point, my BIL, who worked in the Clinton White House (he's not so famous), on the occasion of my first trip back from the U.S. after making aliyah, greeted me at the train station wearing a Palestinian scarf...

But he was also very proud of candid photo he took of his mother with Jesse Jackson (of "Hymie Town" fame Puke ) BtW...he somehow "tricked" his mother into this photo. (long story) I am sure she was none-too-thrilled.

this just gives an idea of what we are facing....

Well, personally I'm not crazy about any of them, Democrats or Republicans. Voted for Bush - whilst holding my nose.
