I am looking for a tried and true recipe for the caramel sauce. I have done a little research on google, but there is so much variation. I am hoping someone already has this mastered...

| The recipe in the Purple Spice and Spirit cookbook works, or this one http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-make-toffee-apples - I subsititued brown sugar for white, and added red food coloring for a red colour, and used margarine instead of butter - looked beautiful, and very easy.

Thanks! Which one is better? I loaned out my Spice & Spirit and never got it back  Do you have time to post the recipe?
