My son is getting his hair cut on chanuka I"yh. Since he is my only boy and I'm single, I dont know when I'll have such an occassion again, So I would like it to be extra special. Any suggestion on how to make 'fancy' pekelech, or is there a place where I can order them?

I ddi those mini white bags...drew two black stripes on each side. and then hole-punched the bottom 4 corners and tied white string in each to be mini tzitzis. then I wrote "mazel tov ____" on it. I've seen it done by others too. it comes out cute. the white bags I'm talking abt are like mini bakery ones.

I'm making them right now for my son's upsherin this Sunday, I'YH!
I bought white gift bags with handles. In each corner, I am punching holes to thread the tzitzis. For the stripes, dh found thin black electrical tape at the hardware store that I am cutting to fit the bags. (I don't draw very well, so this was much bertter for me than using a crayon or marker...the stripes would never be straight!) They look really cute.

I had also thought of buying white party favor boxes with handles and doing the same thing with the string and tape. However, the only boxes I could find had a plastic "window" on the front. I think if I had found plain boxes, those would have looked nice too.

In lakewood you can order pekelach from The Pekelach Place (listed in the directory) . Price comes out to be the same as making them yourself without the hasle
Either way, make sure that your cheder / playgroup etc doesnt have any requirements -- for example hemishe hechsherim, only 3 items in the bag, no toys (choking hazard), peanut free, dairy free etc.
Mazel Tov!
