I have a sauter oven and a few hours to go before shabbos. I need to broil my london broil. but there are only pictures on the oven knob. So how do I know which setting is broil? (I tried looking it up online but I don't think they have a website).

Try the knobs and see which one turns on the upper elements. If I am not mistaken, for baking only the lower go on (at least in my gas oven that is the case).
Good luck, or borrow someone's grill.

You can do a search in google
Sauter xxxxx user guide

where xxxxx is the oven number

you should be able to find it. Try "instructions" if "user guide" gets nothing

If boiling is like grilling, tehn you want the symbol with the wavy line at teh top.

Actually if you use the usual hot, turbo setting I think it would do too. Would grilling get teh inside done enough for meat ?

Mine also only has pictures - The picture with the line on top indicating that the heat source is only comming from the top of the oven is what you use for broiling - high, intense heat from the top, ideal for steaks, hamburgers, crisping up chicken, etc. I know it's after the chag so I hope it all turned out well!!

oh, temp? I have no idea since we just moved so I'm also new to this oven and I haven't used it yet on that setting. My best guess though is that you want it at somewhat of a high temp since broiling is an intense top heat.

Try googling to see at what temp other ovens do broiling (my old oven just had a setting for broil, and then either normal or high so I never knew what the actual temp was)

I don't know if you can use it for fast cooking, you best bet for fast cooking is to put it on the picture with the line on top and bottom with the fan in the middle. THis is the convection oven setting, the air is circulated through the oven and for some reason this makes everything cook faster. Just be careful with baking, definitely lower the temp a little bit, by 10 or 15 degrees. Otherwise, the outside will be cooked, but the insides won't be.

(I wonder if we have the same oven, if it is, it is tiiiinyyyy!!!!) I'm used to being able to put in so many things to cook at the same time and now I can really only do one thing at a time.

for broiling, I use the one with the two slits on the top on the highest temp (275?). I have never done a roast though. Is the one line better?
