I recently made upsherin and after we took or son to cheider to say the alef beis and lick the honey someone told us this cute story
a child on his 3rd birthday went to cheider. he said the "alef beis" very nice. then it came to the licking of the honey, in case you didnt know, the rebbi puts honey on the alef and the child licks the honey (to have a sweet life) t
the child refused to lick the honey, they tried to convince him but he still didn't want to. the rebbi asked him why he doesn't wanna lick the honey, so the child answered:
"my mother always says that we don't come to this world to lick honey"

but I think that expression sounds way better in yiddish, never even heard it in English.

I'll say most of the joke in english, but the main joke I'll write in yiddish.
a boy went to chaider the day of his upsherin, he was sitting on the rebbes lap, the rebbe told him to say the alef bais, he said the alef bais, he asked him to say all the other stuff, torah tziva, etc. and the child did everything the rebbe said...
then the rebbe told the child to lick off the honey that he put on the alef beis, and the child refused..
so the rebbe tried coaxing the child, but to no avail, the rebbe didn't understand why the child did everything so beautifully but refuses to lick the honey. so finally he asked him.. why don't you want to lick the honey? so the child said: Main mame hut gezugt az men iz nisht gekimen oif der velt tzi leken hunig.
מיין מאמע האט געזאגט אז מען איז נישט גקעומען אויף די וועלט צו לעקן האניג.
