Just don't include either one. I make quiche all the time without it. All you need are eggs, cheese, whatever veggie you're planning on using, flour, sauteed onions, spices (such as onion soup mix), and baking powder.

1 box of Frozen Spinach
1 onion
1 can of mushrooms

2 tbsps of low fat mayo
1 envelope of matza ball mix or matza meal
defrost the spinach and squeeze out the water. Sautte the onion with the mushrooms. mix together the spinach, onions, mushrooms, eggs, onion soup mix, mayo and matza ball mix.
Pour into a premade pie shell and bake for abour 40 minutes on 350

| sure- its still delicious. I sometimes also sprinkle the top with bread crumbs and then spray the top with cooking spray to make it crunchy.

| It was really good. Next time I'll use a bit less spinach. I don't get the frozen boxed spinach here so I guess I used a little more than I was supposed to. It's hard to figure out the exact amount.

try broccolli too - 4 or 5 eggs, sauted onions with fresh garlic in olive oil, add the mushrooms to sautee if you like and spices like salt garlic pepper - I put a layer of cheddar cheese on the bottom of mine + mozerrella in the batter - but you can simply skip it ... and btw its easy to make your own shell ...
in food processor
2 cups flour
2/3 cup crisco
1/2 tsp. salt
I add spices like garlic powder and paprika
1/2 cup ice water
press it into pan with floured fingers ... poke fork holes and add the quiche stuff

| Thanks greenfire. I never have luck making my own crusts. I guess I just need more practice. I made an apple pie for shabbos with a homemade crust and it was way too thick. I just haven't gotten it yet. Maybe one day... (dreaming)

no I use same recipe for apple pie only with a bit of sugar instead of the spices ... the trick also is to poke the holes and to use "ice" water ... measure water put in ice stir till it's real cold and add without the ice to dough ...
and btw ... I like thick crusts ... so ... buyer be aware
