not new news, but fascinating nonetheless, and in case somebody missed it:

short summary: the Y chromosomes (part of the genetic make-up) of kohanim (Jewish priests descending from Aharon) are different than that of non-kohanim

Any speculation other than 'false Levi'im' being absorbed into klal yisrael of why Levi'im don't show a genetic similarity? This was what one article concluded about Levi'im, speculating that there were Levi'im that came from the Kuzari and their 'priest' took on the name of Levi. The theory were that these men came to be mistakenly believed to be Levi'im. I have a hard time believing it, but Levi'im also should be genetically related!

about Leviim - I don't know but kohanim AND leviim descend from the Levi son of Yaakov, so Confused
