Pls vote for the best way to make rice!

My mom never could make good rice so we only had instant growing up, and it was never too good�..I can make decent rice in the microwave but didn�t have the power to run it for 20 minutes in our old apt., so I got an $8 steamer, and it was such a good investment, we�re using it almost every single day!

I started using a crock pot bag in it so I don�t have to wash it between uses.

I've recently started doing it in the oven when I'm too lazy to wash another pot Embarassed

it's more mushy than when I do it on the fire, but we like it like that.

best for me is baked in the oven Smile

I bake mine

steaming rice is the healthiest way to eat it.

yum rice with soy sauce... yummm now im in the mood for that

I put rice and water in a microwave safe dish. I mix in 1 packet of onion soup mix and a can of mushrooms. Stir halfway through cooking- Best rice ever!

Lani - how long in microwave?

I never made rice b/c it took forever, and I like dinner fast! I just bought instant rice and it's so quick! And, when mixed in things like chili it's fine. THough I do think plain is a tad different. But, 5 min. instead of 25? It's worth the diff.

How does everyone make it in the oven?

LubCoralSpring, I can't edit options in a poll.

I always cook brown rice, on stove top, 1 part rice to 2 parts water, minus 1/2 cup water to keep it fluffy instead of sticky.
Works well every time!! 8)

Um...a rice cooker? Depends what I'm doing to it. I don't know what the "best" is, but how I do it depends on the meal.

I make mine in the oven. 2 cups rice, 4 tbsp oil, 3 tbsp soy sauce, 3 tbsp soup mix, 4 boiling water. cover and bake for 1 hour.

Absolutely foolproof every single time, and always gets compliments. It does take an hour, but takes a minute to mix, stick it in, and leave it.

What is instant rice?
You missed out boil in the bag rice. easiest ever.

I have one recipe with lots of veggies, raw rice, water, onion soup mix to go covered in the oven.

Usually, though, I cook it on the stovetop. 4 cups (yes, 4) of water to 1 cup of rice. When the water boils I add the rice, stir & let it simmer, covered until the water almost cooks out. I stir occassionally. It can take 20 minutes or so to cook. Then I drain & rinse it a bit to get the starch off & stop it from sticking.
