Hope someone can help me... I looked for a teething thread but couldn't find it on the first 2 pages here and ran out of patience after that. My 8 month old is teething in a BIG MAJOR way, it's gotten to the point where she won't bite down on our fingers when we put it in her mouth-- no, her gums are so sensitive she screams bloody murder and pulls away in agony. She won't sleep at nite or go down for a nap. She lies there and will only relax if someone is there holding her hand, and she digs her fingers into whoever's hand it is even as her eyes close-- it's obvious she's in intense pain....
This is so hard on us all. Can someone either show me a thread where tips are discussed, or give me tips?
...and fast, please?
Thanks thanks thanks!!!

baby tylenol! Actually, for my DS, ibuprofen works better than paracetamol, so I give him children's nurofen. You can even rub it directly on the gums.
Also, rub a little bit of vodka on the gums. No, a bit wont make him drunk, and it really works.
DS's first teeth came in really easily, but now he's been teething for 3 days, driving us all, including him, nuts! He always wants to be held, tries to bite me, cries much easier, wakes up earlier....poor thing, the least I can do is give him something to make him feel a little better.

oragel works well for temporary relief. I used it during the day.
for the night, my doctor told me I could give my baby motrin since she got fever witht he teething and her gums were terribly swollen.
another thing my dr. did was that she broke the gums. it killed for a second but my baby was so much better after that!

I've used whisky on all my babies gums while they were teething. They all received instant temporary relief from the pain. I also gave them Tylenol before they went to bed if they had a particularly hard day with it.
My kids never liked the orajel. I tried it myself once and it stung before it started to numb. I don't know if we just have particularly sensitive gums, or if the same thing happens to everyone.
