Eventhough I am married many years and cook alot I am still confused .
Any one here can explain to me the differences please?
For Cholent-which potatoes are the best?Idaho,Red or White?
What kind of onions are best for cooking?Spanish,Vidalia Yellow?

I wouldn't use red potatoes in the cholent. And I would also use regular yellow onions.

Yellow potatoes and yellow onions! (easy to remember)
I also recently started putting in whole garlic cloves. Like 5 or 6 for a med to lg cholent. They give off a mild flavor, not at all spicy in the cholent.
My husband and I dig through the pot to find them -- they have such a yummy, mellow flavor and they're super healthful! My mouth is watering just writing about it!

| If you leave the skin on the garlic they are easier to find because they don't get mushed, and you pop all the yummy garlic out and spread it on challah.
