I need a parenting course like dina friedman, -cant pay :(

I really feel that I could benefit from a dina friedmans course, but I cant afford it. I defiantly need some type of class or series of classes on parenting. are there any free or cheap chinuch classes out there?
I love rav wolbee's "planting and building" book and and rav kelemans book... but I need more than a sefer to help me. I live oot and we dont have any chinuch classes going on in my community right now.

im a young stressed out mother of little ones, and there is way to much screaming in my house right now! please help!!

Sara Jaroslowitz's course is pretty good and I think it's free on one of the hotlines.

Maybe a tape/mp3 library has something recorded? And if you're looking for more of a personal mentorship, you could call up the person who speaks on a tape you like and ask if they could help with your personal questions - I'd try the ones who don't have a business doing it, plenty of speakers do speaking engagements for pay but are just ordinary rebbetzins the rest of the time, not like self-declared 'experts' whose business is to charge $xxx per hour of consult.

BTW if anyone has a specific friendly rebetzin to recommend, I'm also in the market for one Wink

books by adele faber and elaine mazlish would be really helpful and you can find them on amazon.

speak to dina. she might be able to work out a payment plan.

Books books books. Buy them cheap there are so many wonderful books out there. Nt necessarily Jewish ones.

thanks for the suggestions. ive read a lot of secular books on parenting, but I need someone who understands a frum lifestyle. parenting children who are not frum, is a totally different ballgame...

also the rav kelleman cd's are just as expensive as dina's class. I went to neve and had a nightly chinuch shiur by rav keleman. it was absolutely amazing and inspiring. unfortunately, when you listen to a shiur as a single girl, it doesn't actually stick so much once you have kids!

has anyone had experience working out a payment plan, or some kind of discount for dina's classes? I need a down to earth practical class, not just a book.

I took Mrs. Levitansky's classes. They were excellent.

She's the wife of R' Ahron Levitansky, menahel of Telshe Yeshiva, and she's a wonderful person.

Email them and find out about a payment plan. I don't know what the possibilities are, but the worst they can say is no, right?

If you can't work out a payment plan, I'd highly recommend this book:

Raise Your Kids Without Raising Your Voice

The author, Sarah Chana Radcliffe, is a psychologist who writes a weekly column in Mishpacha that deals a lot with parenting. Her book is excellent. I found the material very similar to all the popular chinuch classes, and it's nice to have everything written out so you can refer back to it again and again.

P.S. I was at Neve too. It all sounded so easy when Rabbi Keleman would talk about planting and building! Smile

I really like tiferes through chofetz chaim heritage foundation. It costs $50 a year, includes monthly dvd on chinuch/shalom bayis topic and also has weekly parenting phone conferences by terrific teachers/rebbitzens. You can search on here for feedback from others. But if money is tight, its the way to go.
