My husband and I are planning a sort of last minute trip to Israel and I realize my passport still has my maiden name on it. I have changed my legal name on everything else. If I book the flight with my maiden name do you think I can encounter any problems. I am hesitant to make the change now as I am not sure I will get it in time.

I have flown with a passport in my maiden name. As long as it is not expired it shouldn't be an issue. Just book the ticket in your maiden name

The ticket and passport have to be in the same name. That's all.

if you were travelling with a child/ren, by yourself, then that probably would make them ask you for more identification to verify that you are their mother.

if you are travelling without child/ren, or with dh plus children, I would say that that should be ok, but you need to ask with the booking and /or checking in , to be placed together

This.

I have flown several times using my Canadian passport with my maiden name on it. If the passport is valid and you look like yourself, it's all good.

Maybe in the US, but not in Israel.

Someone travelling from israel to someplace else told me that they made her boarding difficult because she was travelling with her baby, without dh, and her passport was with her maiden name.

No problem at all. I usually take along my marriage license just in case!

I have done this. Either book it in your maiden name, or if you use your married name, bring your marriage certificate. Either way is no problem.

This, I got married a last year, and I'm not changing my passport until it expires, because I don't want to send away my marriage certificate...yet. Went to EY on honeymoon, the only issue I had was on my photo I look like a moody teenager, I was at the airport in a tichel and the security guy had to ask 4 colleagues and get me to show 2 other IDs before he believed it was me...I even tried pulling the pose in the picture, but alas I'm not a teenager any more.

Bring lots of proof, and it will probably be ok. BTDT... it took lots of time but they gave in

You can get certified copies of your marriage certificate if you're afraid to send it away.

I travel out of the US at least annually. My passport is in my maiden name, my kids passport is in my first husband's name. My kids answer their jewish name and to my husband's last name.

No problem with the passports. Once they checked and asked my kids their names.

If you refuse to change your passport make sure the ticket is issued in the name on your passport. If the ticket and the passport names are different you can have problems. In that case, make sure you bring your marriage license with you.

I also had a problem once- in Germany- because my son and I have different last names. Luckily, dh, who shares ds's last name, was on a different line but they called him to join us and let us through. Otherwise, if someone is traveling with kids who have a different last name than the parent/s accompanying them, you should bring their birth certificates to prove your relationship, or a certified letter from a parent with their name authorizing you to travel with them. Obviously some people go through without a problem, but I wouldn't take a chance.

I never changed my name so I always bring a copy of my marriage license and kids birth certificates with me.

I can now, I couldn't when I went on honeymoon. In the UK there's a double delay in getting copies. The registrar must submit his registry book to the county registry [but need not do so immediately, may wait until there has been a number of entries in busy season] then it must be processed. To get one then you must appear in person at the county registry as soon as that happens, or after a few weeks you can do it by phone if you have all the details. If you live in a different city, and want to get it online, it could be up to a year before it is available.

However, by the looks of the gov website, it has now got simpler, so I should just get on with it then. Cool

I've never had a problem - and I changed my name on everything but my passport (and social security #). Just make the ticket with the name on your passport.
