What do you like about where you live?

I really wanted to start a thread on what you don't like about where you live to vent, but that would take too many pages and I wanted to be more positive Laughing

. So, what do you like about where you live? My list is very short Sad

--my family lives here, meaning immediate, husband and children
I know I would live wherever they live, but I have to make sure I have more than one thing on my list Rolling Eyes

--I have a very good friend and that's the only thing I'll miss when/if we move.

and that's why we're here in the first place
--the weather, it's mild most of the year Thumbs Up

I like how its very laid back here.. beautifu homes with grass and cars and I love my clothing stores.. and my family lives here.

I dont like the schools here or my friend situation.

I like the fact that my apartment is spacious and all on one level (no stairs).
I like the fact that I only live a few steps down from street level (love this)
I like my neighbors (most of them)
I like the schooling in my area.
I like my big terrace.
I like my "social life" I.e. the fact that I've been here for years and know many people socially, even if I'm not close with most of them.
I like having my mom and sister 50 minutes away, although it would be nice to be closer
I like having my brother 45 minutes away (in a different direction)
Of course, I like having dh's family in not too distant cities as well.

I like that CM is such a satisfied soul. It's refreshing! So I like that I don't live that far from her!

I like the frum environment for my children. There are so many shul's and Kosher choices. Being frum is my children's normal.

I feel lucky to live in E"Y. Where I live I have all the conveniences I need. There are charedim of all types, DL and secular living in peace. I have a spacious apartment, but it's a bit of a dump. LOL.

Socially I'm not so happy though. My close friends live in different neighborhoods and towns.

I live in Chicago.

I like that it has the advantages of big city Jewish living (lots of choices of schools, stores, etc.) but still has smaller town advantages -- it is pretty much still one community, there's lots of grass and greenery.

I like that I live in a real community. If s/o is making a simcha, there are always offers of help and places to put company for a weekend.

I like that I can afford a house here.

I like that we are far enough from family, but close enough to visit!

I love the yishuv that I live on.
It is not too small but not so big that you get lost as a number.
I love the people. If there is a need for help for anything, people are there to help, with anything.
My daughter will grow up with a lot of freedom (its a yishuv so she will be able to walk to her friends with no problems or walk to the makolet or get the mail)
I have a gorgeous view from my windows.
It really does feel like home. Smile

Spacious apartment, only 3 steps to street.
Wonderful neighbors in our building and the whole neighborhood.
Great shul.
Good makolet.
A cohesive community with shiurim, chessed, whatever you need.
A distinct neighborhood but attached to a larger city with everything I need.
Weather is great in the winter.

I like that it's in Israel.
I like my house.
I like the beautiful park right near my house.
I like that the city is clean and kept up well.
I like our public transportation.
I like that I can walk to the mall from our house.
I like that I can be in Yerushalyim in 10-15 minutes.

The rov in my shul is easily accessible by phone and email. I've received quick responses to THM questions by email at 11 pm.

I love my apt- ground floor, spacious, everything was new when we came
I like the (few)friends that we have here
I like how we are needed in this community
I like how family oriented this city is (close parking for families, free babysitting in all the supermarkets, free valet services in the stores, libraires have awesome programs)
I like how the city offers a ton to young families for free
thats abt it

I love the feeling of treading in the very footsteps of my ancestors who lived here thousands of years ago.
I love the biblical landscape.
I love the peace and tranquility of Shabbat.
I love the fact that my kids are growing up in a safe, (from some perspectives), nurturing environment that also provides them with a degree of independence that they wouldn't have in a city.
I love knowing who my neighbors are but being able to choose how closely connected I want to be with them.
I love that people are, on the whole, non-judgmental of other peoples' level of religiosity.
I love the climate (one of the coolest places in Israel) and the proximity to Jerusalem.
I love living in the same yishuv as my only sister.
Now that my kids are a bit older and DH and I no longer really need a babysitter I kind of miss the cultural and intellectual offerings and stimulation of the city. Sometimes I miss the heterogeneity too. And sometimes I just want to be a little more anonymous when I go about my daily business. I guess there's a down side to everything though.

I love that I live in a small OOT community, but that I have larger frum communities just 30-45 min away.
I love the great diversity of my community members and that there is no judging and just total acceptance.
I love living in a place where my children (and me!!) can feel safe walking to shul and friends' homes by themselves, where I can leave my house and car unlocked.
I love being able to look out my window and see trees and grass and small animals, and I love hearing the birds and the bugs in the morning and evening.
I love how everyone in my community looks out for one another.

I don't love the fact that I have to drive 45 min to work.
I don't love the fact that my kids' school is half hour away.
At times I miss the convenience of living in a large metropolitan frum area where I can buy anything I need as soon as I need it.

Given the choice though, I am happy to stay where I am.
