| Do you get your inspiration from cookbooks, requests from family, something you tasted, the cooking channel, traditional family recipes, a type of ethnic food you are trying to master?

I get my inspiration from cookbooks, cooking sites, and imamother.
I would probably try more and do more/different if my family cared.

| Everything, a cookbook, a magazine, a website or just what is on sale in the grocery store. Really anything can be my inspiration.

Pintrest! That website is the sole reason I decided to make homemade onion rings for dinner -- for one, since my husband was at the siyum hashas...actually, maybe that's not such a plus, as I ate all of them...
Also, I follow a bunch of cooking/baking blogs and then wish I could make stuff as pretty as they do, then make the easier, not as attractive version.
Sometimes, if someone posts a really good sounding recipe here, I'll try it out, depending how many steps there are.

I tend to get whims - sometimes b/c I have an ingredient to hand or am craving a certain flavor. sometimes it's a matter of something random (a mention in a book, a conversation, seeing a display in a bakery window) reminding me of a certain item. I tend to get an idea for what I want to do, and then go look for a recipe - allrecipes.com is handy because of that, but I do flip through my cookbooks as well. _________________ http://crunchyandkosher.blogspot.com/

| I actually Will sit up in the middle of the night and have an idea for baking or cooking. I often try what I thought of. I also use normal ways, cookbooks, Internet and friends.

| Pinterest has revolutionized my cooking repertoire. I used to rely on self-created recipes, books, allrecipes.com, and the occasional suggestion from a message board, and now Pinterest. It sometimes takes time to wade through repetitive posts/bad recipes, but if you take some time, it can really make a huge difference. I also love being able to categorize my recipes by lunch/dinner, breads, soups, sides, desserts, etc. I even have a board for my tried and true successes. It's wonderful.
