| When you serve Shabbos chicken, do you find it acceptable to serve in the pan the chicken was baked in (not aluminum. I mean if it's glass or ceramic), or do you have a special platter?

There are pretty baking pans you can buy made especially for the purpose of serving. It all depends on your personal style. A glass pan can be served in good taste. Some people will always transfer - but their table is still not at all aesthetically pleasant.
(I use disposables, so I do transfer)

| I personally have no problem with glass. However I have a few glass pans that came with decorative trivets. If I'm having company I might put the chicken in a fancier tray, but if I don't it just means less dishes for me!

I have lots of oven-to-tabletop ceramic/glass dishes that I use frequently.
I'm sure someone somewhere will not want their children to marry mine because of this, and I'm okay with that.

| The whole point of oven-to-tableware is to minimize work by allowing you to bake and serve in the same dish. If you merely bake in the pan and transfer to a serving platter, you've defeated the purpose of using that pan. After all, good metal pans can last for generations; glass/ceramic , be they ever so expensive, can be history with one good swan dive to the floor.

| I think I wouldn't bother baking chicken in a oven to tableware dish as I find chicken will usually leave splash marks that don't look that nice & are difficult to scrub off.

I like to use serving dishes instead of the Pyrex I cook in but there are weeks when Im too tired to replate the food so I put the pyrex out.
I really really don't like doing this with foil pans or the silicone pans.

besides for how it looks, I use a platter because of the heat. The pan I cook in is hot, the platter will be cool enough to touch/pass around. _________________ "But it's no use going back to yesterday, I was a different person then"- Alice in Wonderland

My favorite household products in the entire world are serving pieces with Pyrex inserts:
Silver with Pyrex Insert
They're really the best of both worlds: you cook in the Pyrex dish and simply plop it into the silver server before bringing it out. Of course, the Pyrex breaks every so often, so you just buy a replacement at any housewares story -- most of these servers take fairly common sizes.
True, I do rinse them off after use, but they don't require the kind of scrubbing or intensive cleaning that a baking dish requires. They generally don't come in contact with food, so you're not making a lot more work.
I'm sure someone makes these in sterling, but the majority are inexpensive silverplate. That said, they seem to last forever. My mother gave me hers when she no longer hosted much, and they're all in perfect condition -- some after 50 years of use.
If silver isn't your thing, they make similar items in ceramic, pottery, pewter, brass, etc.
I love a beautifully-set table, but I am inherently a very lazy person, especially in the kitchen. So if there's a way to do something beautifully and without making more work, I'm all over it!

I love glass baking dishes with metal holders.
I love Pyrex because it has covers for the fridge and washes well in the dishwasher.
I have resizable trivets for the square/rectangular pans. Metal bowl trivets for the bowls. And some metal decorated holders that hold square glass pans.

What is the story with buying the silver plated used on ebay. I really like some of them.

| I like to use oven to tablewear myself. I will even bring my pyrex to the table, unless it is extremely unattractive. It is very rare when I will serve something on a special serving platter that is not fruit or cake.

I love the oven to table, I boght a glass pyrex dish with a nice silver holder
I bake in the glass dish, keep it shabbos on hot plate, and then insert it in the holder, and bring it to the table
I purchaed it local in bp, they run about $40 depends on size or shape
it is not a silver plated holder. but some other kind of "metal-silver" material.
