Do we need to buy airline tickets for an almost-2-year-old?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but if it's not, please point me in the right direction and I'll go there instead!

We need to buy airline tickets for a family simcha. My daughter's second birthday will take place between the dates of our travel (ie, when we fly there she won't be two yet, but she'll have turned two the day before we fly back home.) As per airline regulations, you only need to buy a ticket for a child who is two years old or older.

So: do we have to buy my daughter a seat? And if yes, both ways, or just one way?

Depends on the airline. You have to check the policies before purchasing tickets. We flew British when we had the same scenario- ds turned two during our trip- and they didn't make us purchase a full ticket (we did pay taxes, for int'l flight) but they still gave him his own seat on the return flight. Some airlines do make you pay either round trip or for the return flight.

You definitely need to purkchase a seat for the. Retuen trip.

we had that when my daughter turned two and we didnt have to buy her a ticket.
