I'm looking for a parve formula appropriate for infants.

So far I've found forumlas with all parve ingredients but they are all manufactured on dairy equipment with no kashering in between (I.e. they're OU-D or the like). Does anyone know of a formula that's parve including the equipment it's made on?

I saw that Materna has a parve formula but it doesn't seem to be available unless someone knows where it could be bought in NY area or on-line. Other than that I'm stumped.

Thanks you!

Are you asking because of allergies or because of halacha? If it's halacha, call a rav - I was told it's not a problem at ALL!!!!! And sometimes things are labeled DE, but they're really fine, so you can ask the OU about a specific formula.

Please don't jeopardize your baby's health, parve is generally a lot less healthy than regular dairy. Unless it's an allergy issue, please talk to your rav.

Last poster I would be interested to understand why you feel that parve formula jeopardazes a baby's health.

I was disappointed to see that the vast majority of parve forumulas have corn syrup (and DHA which may be problematic) and only found one (baby's only) which does not. What are the other concerns regarding parve formula that you're aware of?

Do you have any concerns regarding milk based forumla in any way?

Thank you.

Elecare, but our baby had a severe dairy allergy and you have to ask a shaila because the kashrus is questionable. But it's not dairy.

Most pareve formulas (including prosobee) are soy-based. Soy use on a regular basis is very controversial when it comes to health, and it generally is avoided unless there are no alternatives due to allergies. You can find lots of info online.

Personally, I wouldn't consider a soy based formula "suitable for infants" unless it was a last resort.

If this is about kashrus, please discuss with a rav knowledgeable in the health risks associated with soy.

Right, if this is about halacha, please ask.
My daughter had to be on a formula called nutramigen for over a year. It is not kosher. But that was the only thing that she was able to eat.
If it is about sustenance vs allergies, please ask about this. For a baby, things are different in terms of kashrut.

you could supplement with soy formula (parve) but it should not be used as the primary source for feedings unless approved by your dr. for some reason.

I want to agree with what all the mothers above said. If its about allergies look into elacare, nutramigin, alamentum (all non kosher) etc. If its about kashrus... ask a shila I have never seen a rav say give infants something that might not be good for them for kashrus reasons.

If this is for an allergy (I hope it is because if it was for kashrus reasons I would say that is fakrumkeit) then most babies that are allergic to dairy are allergic to soy as well.

I can't imagine that non CY would be more important than not kosher!

Elacare and Nutramigen AA are in a different class than Alimentum and regular Nutramigen. if you call the OU they will tell you the first 2 are kosher, the others should be used in the toilet sink

The last time I looked into it, Elecare was the only Kosher hypoallergenic formula. It used to be under the OU.

Here is a link to which elecare products are certified, all the way at the bottom of the page, it will open a PDF. http://abbottnutrition.com/FAQs/FAQs.aspx#Q9

For a child that cannot take any other formula, eating Elecare is not a shaila, its pikuach nefesh.

If you can avoid any product with corn syrup, all the better. It's really not healthy.

Have you consider a breast milk bank if something like that exists in your area? Hypoallergenic and pareve. I know it sounds radical but they do exist.
